Sarcococca ruscifolia slow growing evergreen shrub to 3 5 feet tall and wide. Sweet smelling flowers are enough to make us love a plant forever but sarcococca keeps on giving.

Sarcococca ruscifolia hedge!!!

Sarcococca hookeriana commonly called sweetbox is a low growing broadleaf evergreen shrub to 5 tall that spreads albeit slowly by stolons to 6 wide or more over time in shady areas of the landscape. Fantastic hedge for shady gardens trims very tolerant of both acid and alkaline soil best planted in a fertile soil. Fragrant white flowers in winter followed by dark red berries in summer. Requires shade moderate water and prefers acidic soil.

Will grow in sun or shade in well drained not too dry soil. Evergreen foliage is also ideal for covering up footings vents utilities and other unsightly spots around foundation planting. Looks great as a hedge. Excellent plant for use in drier shady areas.

Tiny white flowers hidden amongst its glossy dark green foliage open to release a delightful perfume of sweet vanilla. Recipient of the prestigious award of garden merit of the royal horticultural society. Sarcococca hookeriana humilis.
