A dense mounded evergreen shrub with soft textured glossy green leaves that have an interesting silver mid vein. Works wonderfully when planted in borders as an accent or along walkways. Compacta holly japanese holly. The shrubs offer small greenish white flowers in springtime but they are neither fragrant nor showy.

Comes in a 2 5 qt. In spring the young stems are purple and mature foliage holds its glossy green color all year. These holly shrubs resemble boxwood plants and like boxwood make excellent hedges. The plant is also good in formal gardens and is good for topiary.

The compact japanese holly likes full sun to partial shade. White but not showy. Japanese hollies are best used in mass groups as low shrubs low hedges or tall groundcovers. You can also use small leafed holly species like japanese holly as foundation shrubs.
