Compact and well branched habit. Plants in the genus caryopteris are small to medium sized woody shrubs cultivated for their attractive aromatic foliage and usually blue flowers. It grows to form a shrub that gives a flower bed a round and colorful touch and is particularly well liked by butterflies and bees that visit it repeatedly. Caryopteris beyond midnight has a dense mounding habit.

There also are pink varieties such as the autumn pink. Noteworthy characteristicsopposite toothed leaves and small blue flowers from late summer to autumn. Caryopteris beyond midnight common name bluebeard blue mist spirea provides late summer and fall color. Unique pink blooms on very short internodes.

They are clustered in panicles above the foliage as little feathery puffs. Grow in a mixed or shrub border. First year flowering with no bulking benefit or vernalization requirements. Once established this drought tolerant plant is virtually maintenance free.
