The foliage is more chartreuse than yellow and makes a wonderful contrast for darker greens in the garden and the lavender blue flowers that come late in the season. Perfect for use in the mixed border or perennial beds. Yellow and variegated varieties are also available. Dark knight blue mist spirea caryopteris clandonensis blooms with a profusion of dark blue flowers in late summer when few other shrubs are flowering.The flowers are fragrant and the leaves are strongly aromatic. Deep blue flowers are richer than other caryopteris varieties and will attract butterflies to late summer gardens. The best caryopteris we ve seen with tight compact growth excellent branchingand dark green glossy foliage. They are clustered in panicles above the foliage as little feathery puffs.
In late summer to mid fall abundant rich blue flowers are on display to the delight of butterflies bees and other beneficial insects. Its modest size makes it very useful in smaller yards. Tall and wide 60 90 cm. The flowers give caryopteris it s common name of blue mist.
