Esperanza and yellow bells are two common names for tecoma stans a species of small tree prized for its golden yellow flower clusters. The esperanza plant may be known as yellow bells hardy yellow trumpet or yellow alder. Two subspecies are widely cultivated in landscaping. Gold star esperanza produces an endless display of large clusters of large golden yellow lightly fragrant trumpets from late spring to frost.

Esperanza is a flowering shrub that produces bright yellow flowers all summer long and sometimes beyond. Arching stems of dark green foliage form sprays of green and gold. It is relatively low maintenance but some strategic cutting back really helps it to keep blooming fully and steadily. These can be seen blooming from spring through fall.
